Meghalaya border disputes settlement

Published on April 10th, 2013

Shillong, April 09th:  The much awaited solution toward bringing a settlement on the disputed areas of Block-II between Assam has now come into fresh ideas of settling down the dispute. The aggrieved residents have shown their willingness that they are ready to part of Assam’s territory as long as there is peace and harmony prevailing in the area. This was the agreement made by the residents of  Langpih in order to wake up the government in order to come out with their best possible solution, since then this has been a long pending issue that has not been solved or come into any conclusion on the border dispute.

Members of the Block -II Area Peace and Development Association (BAPDA) came out with the idea in order to push both sides of government to come out with an earliest settlement possible, and they are willing to be part of either side of the State, as mention by BAPDA president Piu Sten.

The border dispute which has been existing since then has not come out without any solution to bring down the issue into any agreements. Several moves made by the government of Meghalaya have never turn out to be a positive outcome. Violence and deaths of several innocent people of the area has always brought in the fear in the minds of the villagers that this would always continue if both the government could not come into a common stream.
