Agartala: Tripura has achieved major boost in its rural electrification network. The state has progressed a lot in extending rural electrification recently, Power minister Manik Dey said here.
Interacting with the media at Agartala, Power minister Dey said that electricity services were extended in 8 districts of the state, mostly in tribal areas. 183 Km of High Tension line was erected in these areas, 141 distribution transformers were installed and 281 Km of Low Tension lines were set up. According to latest reports till June, 2013, 149 new habitations were covered by rural electrification using resources from SPA fund.
Rural electrification using resources from the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) has had major progress during the span as well. Work under the scheme is being carried out by TSECL in former North and former Dhalai districts. PGCIL is implementing the scheme in the rest 2 former districts of Tripura. 809 Km of HT line, 1618 distribution sub-station, 1682LT line, six 33 KV sub-stations, 84 Km of 33 KV HT line, two 66 KV sub-station, 2.90 Km of 66 KV line etc. A total of Rs. 153 crore 30 lakhs have reached the state under RGGVY till June, Dey said.
